I saw a different personal trainer last nite.
He told me the facts.
Scientific facts.
Cold hard facts.
Basically, what i needed to do to get out of my plateau...and the new program i have is harsh. He even said so.
But since ive been going to the gym for nearly 5 years, i need it to be hard.
He didnt tell me to change my diet in anyway...although, i know myself that i have been eating more junk and after the Good Food Month, those rich desserts have finally caught up with my body. And since i offered to cut out the junk before he could suggest it, i think he knew that i would be fine in the food stakes.
The basics in which i learnt last nite was that i should do my weights/resistance training before my cardio.
Why?
To burn the sugar that the first 20 minutes of my cardio would have been wasted on. And when ur training, you need the sugar (energy) for the weights/resistance workout. After i burn the sugar, my cardio training will be focused on burning the fat! Which is what were trying to do in the first place, but neglect to realise what our body is actually doing in the first 20 minutes of our exercising.
Trust the mirror. If your honest with urself, u will see the improvements with ur own eyes. I said i preferred the waistline policy of my trousers or pants. He said that was a good way too, since women have very little muscles around the waist (ie majority of fat is around there)...if the waistline goes down, the bodyfat has decreased.
Our bodies are made up of different muscle fibres. About 65% of our muscle fibres get worked out based on power training...that is doing less reps and challenging it with more resistance. Approximately 35% of our muscle fibres respond to repetitious stimuli.
I have been focusing on the wrong type of workout for my muscles. Ive based more of my resistance training on repetition than power. So, my body isnt challenged anymore...and so my plateau remains unbudged.
=T
I have three different programs for 3 different days.
Ideally, he wants me at the gym 4 times a week, 5 times is better.
On the weekend...he'd like me to continue with my "incidental" exercising...like grocery shopping and carrying the bags as i already do.
I feel tired reading what i need to do, but i promised my trainer that i would try anything if he said that it would give me results.
So, for the next 5 weeks we'll see how far i get with the new program...if i lose the kilos i want to lose...if my arms become less flabby...if my body fat decreases...if i can bring my heart condition back to its peak...etc...
I'll try to keep those who are interested on my progress.
1 comment:
its only been 2 days and im in physical pain.
i guess my trainer got what he wanted...for me to feel the burn.
i cant even walk properly.
i literally take twice as long to walk from A to B.
i should be happy that my body is reacting to the exercise.
*sigh*
