J'aime les pilates...

(Pronounciation: zhem lay pilates)

I did a pilates class for the first time on Tuesday night.

I don't ever recall using that many muscles...ever!!!

I always thought that pilates was just an ab workout, stylised and marketed to yoga enthusiasts with supposed benefits of generating better core stability.

Its not like what i thought it would be.

In all honesty, pilates is strength training using your own body weight for resistance. Comparing it to my weight training, i think its the better option. You can hurt yourself just as easily as doing weights, but the movements are more flowing and the joint injuries are minimised. And yes, there is a whole lot of work done to the abs, but while you work the abs you are actually working the whole body!!!

Isnt that just brilliant?

I work my back, arms, abs and legs every second day at the gym using weights.

In one pilates class i worked on all those 4 parts and i really felt it!

So, im a convert now.

I cant wait until next Tuesday.
