I put the Service Request through about an hour ago.
They will move my PC and all my belongings back to the city sometime within a week or so...my casual relaxed stint in Glebe will come to an end.
I was suppose to move 2 months ago, but that fell through.
Now that some team members have been reunited with the others in Glebe, there are empty workstations in the Head Office. My PM's have readily fought with other managers to acquire a workstation for me.
I once was eager to move back to the city, but when moving back was knocking on my door, i realised how good i had it in Glebe.
Its quiet (when the loud lady who sits behind isnt talking so much)...i dont have anyone hovering around me or watching my every move. I have a shuttle bus that i can use almost like a taxi, except, i dont have to pay for the trip! My managers are not around me to ask me something every 5 seconds. They have to pick up a phone to contact me, therefore, they will be inclined to try and find the answer first before contacting me. When that fails, then they email or call me.
Back in the city, they will delegate everything to me. They will be sitting near me. They wont bother with finding the answer on their own, they will just walk over to my desk and ask me to find it while im trying to juggle the usual responsibilities for the 1 programme (containing 14 projects, as of today) and 2 projects. They will make me attend meetings which i would normally just conference myself in and do work at my PC while listening.
What a shame, what a shame, what a shame...
Its crowded in the CBD office. Too many people. Too noisy. The floor shakes when there is a strong wind (i think they built it that way since the building is so tall, its been designed with some flexibility in case of emergencies). I've managed to avoid shopping on a regular basis, because im located on the quiet side of Glebe. Back in the city, there are shops just beneath me. And Town Hall is a short stroll one way, Chinatown the other. I feel broke just thinking about the temptations.
And i dont like the frequent thoroughfare passing by each workstation. Knowing my luck, i will have a desk where everyone can see my monitor as they walk to the exit or the printer or the toilets, maybe its an even suckier desk where people will walk past for all three of those things!!!
=(
The move will come at a crazy time as well...
I'll move from Glebe to the CBD...get settled in...then disappear for 2 days doing my PM course...go to a breakfast function for work at the Hilton...try to get the project billings out of the way and the numerous reports that need to be done before i go on my PM course...bloody...grrrr...
I'll miss the guys from the EMC though. I think i know them far better than my own team. But they will be permanent fixtures at Glebe...so, i wont ever see them again, unless we all get invited to a work thing.
*sigh*
I dont want to move...
>_<~
