Cannes & Barcelona

Day: Wednesday, 19 September 2007
Wellbeing: Good
Weather: Sunny, nice breeze
Highlight: Temple de la Sagrada Familia

D'antoni Gaudi, who ended up dying before he could finish the temple was an innovative genius. Mar (our local guide) describes the Sagrada as "organic" as he didn't use straight lines - ever. He was inspired by nature and is absolutely incredible as an architect and designer. The Sagrada is incomplete, and it won't be completed until 2020 (which is when I will be back to see it, in all its glory)!!!

Other architects have tried to complete it but the style is obviously different. Some parts of the monument is art deco, some are contemporary in style. It can hold 55,000 (i think) and it will be the highest monument when it is completed, with the tallest spire standing at 173m (not sure if that sounds right), to represent Jesus.
