You know that feeling you get when someone dangles right in front of your face, that something you have been dreaming about attaining for such a long time? And yet its there's, not yours...
Well lately its like everywhere i go, even while im having a meeting with a manager i get that tugging feeling. A reminder of what i don't have. What i wished i could have, but just havent seen it come to fruition...and probably never will...
Sometimes its pretty material and girly...
Like that ultra cute top...that really gorgeous handbag...that hair...that ability to apply make up on oh-so-well!...those shoes...
Other times i just wished i had the moments others have...
One of my project managers was rushing out yesterday and was running 5 minutes late to meet his wife to have lunch in the park...a mini picnic...the other apparently use to do that too, but his wife works outside the city now...i'm guessing that their wives are pretty happy with their husbands.
I'm jealous of girls who have wonderful boyfriends...who turn into fiancées...who do these fantastic proposals (you have all heard the stories)...who just absolutely adore them...
I dont deny it. Because its the truth. I am jealous.
I know...I really do...I have "the grass is greener" complex running around my thoughts.
The trainer who taught my group for my Project Management course told us a short story about the grass being greener on the other side. That its just the perception that you look at things.
The story goes...A man was working hard looking after his lawn. One day he was standing on his lawn and he looked across the road at his neighbours lawn and thought "why do i have dry brown patches and my neighbour has luscious green grass"? Some day later he walked across the road to have a quick chat with his neighbour and noticed that the neighbour had dry brown patches too.
Moral of the story is that from where you stand, the grass will always look greener on the other side.
The resounding truth is ringing loud and clear. Unfortunately, it doesnt stop me from suffering the Green Eyed Monster-itis.
